VOMCF Scholarship Program for former Sonoma County foster youth.

2011 marks the fifth year of the Foundation’s Scholarship Program.  Since it's inception the Valley of the Moon Children's Foundation has awarded 44 scholarships for a total of $148,000. Last June 2010, 18 scholarships totaling $59,000 were awarded to former foster youth.  Scholarships typically range between $1,000 and $5,000.  Scholars for the 2010–2011 school year were honored at a luncheon held at Latitude Restaurant.  Two of our scholarship recipients have graduated from college.  One of these two graduates is now attending law school with further scholarship assistance.

The Valley of the Moon Children's Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization established to provide supportive and educational services for the abandoned, neglected and abused children of Sonoma County. 

Several years ago, the Foundation formed a private public partnership with the County to raise funds to build a desperately needed new home for the children. An estimated  $6 million dollars were raised for this partnership by the Foundation for the new Home, dining and kitchen facilities. Dedication of Phase I and II  took place June 1, 2005. Phase III was completed in February of 2009.

Volunteers play an important role at Valley of the Moon Children's Home by working directly with the children or in other ways that support the mission of the Children's Home.
