ABOUT VOM Children's Foundation
The Valley of the Moon Children's Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization established to provide supportive and educational services for the abandoned, neglected and abused children of Sonoma County.

Several years ago, the Foundation formed a private public partnership with the County to raise funds to build a desperately needed new home for the children. To date, in excess of $11 million has been raised and construction is now complete for the new housing units, and dining and kitchen facilities. Dedication of this phase and occupation by the children took place June 1, 2005.

Efforts are currently under way to raise the remaining funds ($18.8 million) in order to complete Phase III. This final phase of the project includes:

  • Redwood Children’s Center for sexually abused children
  • Equipped medical wing
  • Specialized toddler area
  • Visiting and consulting areas
  • Admissions
  • Volunteer Services

Construction began October 2007. The Foundation will concentrate its efforts on the Redwood Children’s Center, Medical wing and Toddler’s area. This will cost approximately $3 million. Expected completion date of Phase III is Spring 2009.

Upon completion of Phase III, the Foundation will turn its attention to expanded support services for the children. The focus will be upon four key areas:

  1. Continued supplemental support in the home.
  2. Support of emancipated children, including education, housing and employment guidance.
  3. Support of children in foster care and foster parents.
  4. Community child abuse prevention
